Most parents of music students have never studied music themselves. The usual reason is that they did not have the same opportunities that they are now trying to provide their own children. Since these parents did not have the experience they are not sure what to expect and how to approach it. Although parental involvement will always help the music student progress more consistantly and rapidly, it is not necessary for the parents to have knowledge of music. (This is even true for the pre-school programs.)
