PROCESS WITH YOUR CHILD

Being honest with your child is just as important as being honest with your teacher. Please consider each of the following questions, and discuss the issue with your child:

1. Does your son/daughter understand why you are considering a change? DO YOU?
2. Do you know what issues are important to your son/daughter?
3. Are you weighing them as well as your own reasons for change?
4. Are you helping your daughter/son process this change?
5. Does your child have fondness for the former teacher?
6. Are there reasons your child might have difficulty changing?

Do not make any decisions unilaterally and make sure that you and your son/daughter are working through the transition issues together.
