OTHER RECITALS

KMI students are eligible to perform in recitals sponsored by other organizations. Most notably, the Pittsburgh Piano Teachers Association sponsors several recitals throughout the year. Some of these outside recitals are more formal and some are more casual.

PPTA Sunday Recital: Held on Sunday afternoon, one in the fall and one in the spring, these recitals are more formal than most and require that the music be memorized. KMI students who perform well at the KMI recital or who have prepared so many pieces that there are too many to showcase in the KMI recital will be invited to participate in the PPTA Sunday Recital.

PPTA Zoo Event: The Pittsburgh Zoo collaborates with the PPTA to produce a special recital specifically for young students (age 10 and younger). This event is much more casual than most, where music does not have to be memorized and the setting is more open.

PPTA Music Sharing: Held on Sunday afternoon, one in the fall and one in the spring, this is a special casual recital specifically for students 7th grade and older. Music does not have to be memorized, nor even fully prepared. It can be an opportunity for a student to share "works in progress". Students and teachers only for these events!
