FUN AND FULFILLMENT
Music is a difficult and serious educational pursuit with many rewards, so balancing "having fun" with "deligent work" effort is very tricky at every level. In general, the concept that a "job well done is the best reward" dominates our philosophy. Therefore, all our incentive programs are designed to instill this ethic, and do not include numerous prize and treat rewards that are not related to performing music. Just as winning a soccer game should the highest reward for hours of hard practice, the accolades of a winning performance should be the highest reward in music. Food, games and artificial prizes misdirect the student's motivations away from what is important and toward unrelated gratifications.
