PRIVATE LESSONS

Young Artist students are expected to enroll for primary instrument lesson time of 45 min. or greater, however students Levels 5 & 6 are permitted to have 30 min. lessons on their primary instrument (but only for reasons of financial hardship). For Levels 7, 8 & 9, lessons of at least 45 min. are required, and for Levels 10, 11 & 12 and for the two terms immediately preceding an audition to music school, lessons of at least 60 min. are required. These increased lesson time requirements are due to the fact that the literature being studied is much longer. It is not possible even to play through the pieces in a shorter lesson, much less spend time working out difficulties. Lesson time for secondary instruments must be in addition to the required time for the primary instrument.

Increased lesson time requirements also apply to students who have elected to participate in competition (see the section on Competitions).
