BASS VIOL (STRING BASS)

Level 1: Beginning bass students use Stringbuilder for Bass Book 1 for lessons and Notespeller for Bass and Master Theory Book 1 for Theory. The student may also be assigned Essential Elements for Bass Book 1 if the faculty determines it would be beneficial. For technique the student will be assigned Stringbuilder Etudes Book 1. For performance the student will be assigned Cornstalk Tunes by Stanley Fletcher, Stringbuilder Duets Book 1, Building Technique with Beautiful Melodies Book 1, and Solos for Young Bassists Book 1.

Level 2: At the second level, bass students use Stringbuilder for Bass Book 2 for lessons and Kjos Master Theory Book 2 for Theory. For technique, the student will be assigned Stringbuilder Etudes Book 2. For performance the student will be assigned Stringbuilder Duets Book 2, Building Technique with Beautiful Melodies Book 2, and Solos for Young Bassists Book 1 or 2.

Level 3: Students use Building Technique with Beautiful Melodies Book 3 for lessons and Kjos Master Theory Book 3 for Theory. Technique and repertoire is yet to be determined for this level.

Level 4: Lesson, technique and repertoire is yet to be determined for this level. Kjos Master Theory Book 4 will be used for Theory.

Intermediate Levels: The curriculum for Levels 5 - 8 is still under development. KMI does not currently have any string students at these levels.
