PIANO AND ORGAN DEPARTMENT
ADULT PIANO CURRICULUM
Since adults undertake music lessons for a wide variety of reasons, the curriculum is far more flexible to allow for these variations. Adult Levels 1-3 cover the equivalent of the Core Curriculum. Adults completing Level 3 will advance to Level 5 of the Music Appreciation Program.
Adult 1: Alfred Adult Piano Course Level 1 for lessons and theory, Finger Aerobics for technique and one of the Alfred Supplemental books (Level 1) for performance (Greatest Hits, All-Time Favorites, Country, Sacred, Pop Songs, Christmas, or Jazz/Rock). Students are expected to memorize 2 pieces per term in the supplemental or repertoire materials.
Adult 2: Alfred Adult Piano Course Level 2 for lessons and theory, Alfred Technique Level 1-2 for technique and one of the Alfred Supplemental books (Level 2) for performance (Greatest Hits, All-Time Favorites, Country, Sacred, Pop Songs, Christmas, or Jazz/Rock). Students are expected to memorize 3 pieces per term in the supplemental or repertoire materials.
Adult 3: Alfred Adult Piano Course Level 3 for lessons and theory, Alfred Technique Level 2-3 for technique and one of the Alfred Supplemental books (Level 3) for performance (Greatest Hits, All-Time Favorites, Country, Sacred, Pop Songs, Christmas, or Jazz/Rock). Students are expected to memorize 4 pieces per term in the supplemental or repertoire materials.
